Available in stores now: Essential App Engine

My first book is now available in book stores: Essential App Engine. :-)

For more blog posts on this subject, see my other weblog that is devoted to the App Engine.

Hi,

I am new to software engineering and application development and am interested in checking out your book. I am wondering if/where I will be able to download the code in the book? Also if you there will be some sort of channel through which readers can discuss amongst themselves and/or ask and hopefully receive replies from you.

Thanks,
@chriso

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your interest. You can find the source code on:

http://www.essentialappengine.com/p/get-source-code.html

At this point I do not have a designated forum yet. You can post replies to my weblog or the book's weblog and I will answer as soon as I can.

I will set up a forum if the number of questions on the weblog becomes unmanageable. Also, you can always send me an e-mail at adriaandejonge@gmail.com

Kind regards,

Adriaan.

Great, thank you :)

One more question (sorry I forgot to ask in previous comment):

From my perspective, as a reader/user (not your perspective as an author, who may earn a different amount depending on which edition), do you think it is better to order the paperback or the Kindle edition?

The reason I ask is that we are still kind of in the early days for Kindle programming-related books and it's kind of a crapshoot. Some of them work out great (easy to read the code, charts, tables, etc.). Others are almost unusable. That kind of thing. On the one hand, I prefer electronic editions. On the other hand, not if they are hard to read/use.

Thanks again,
Chris

I do not have a Kindle myself, so I cannot give you good advice on which edition is best. I think there are pros and cons to both editions, so in the end it is up to you whether you prefer paper or an electronic device.
